TOURISM MALAYSIA STRENGTHENS BILATERAL TOURISM TIES THROUGH SALES MISSION TO VIETNAM 2025
HO CHI MINH CITY, 08 April 2025 – Tourism Malaysia is proud to announce the launch of its Sales Mission to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi from 8th to 14th April 2025 aimed at rejuvenating its presence and strengthening ties within the Vietnam tourism market.
Led by YB Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, Minister of Tourism, Art and Culture, this mission will explore partnership opportunities, share insights, and solidify the Malaysia-Vietnam travel connection. Tourism Malaysia also aims to strengthen its marketing efforts in Vietnam through seminars, networking, and emphasizing promotions on the leisure market and niche segments especially the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme. This mission is a key step toward not only boosting tourism exchanges but also ensuring a sustained, vibrant relationship between Malaysia and Vietnam.
In conjunction with the sales mission, Tourism Malaysia will also participate in Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM) 2025 from 10th to 13th April in Hanoi. Malaysia’s pavilion will feature wide range of industry players including Sarawak Tourism Board, Tourism Melaka (presented by Bel Travel & Tours, My Exploria Travel & Service and Melaka River Cruise), AirAsia, Batik Air and local agent, BestPrice Travel. The Sarawak Arts Council will also showcase cultural performances featuring a sape musician and a traditional tattoo artist, symbolizing Malaysia’s rich and diverse heritage.
With 167 weekly flights from Vietnam and a total seat capacity of 29,564, this initiative strengthens connectivity between the two nations, making travel to Malaysia more seamless and accessible. In 2024, Malaysia received 366,525 Vietnamese visitors, a decrease of 2.0% compared to 2023 and a decrease of 14% compared to pre-pandemic arrivals in 2019. The Sales Mission is expected to be a significant milestone in bringing more Vietnamese to Malaysia, fostering cultural exchanges, and creating long-term economic benefits for both countries’ tourism sectors.
