TOURISM MALAYSIA ORGANISES EXCLUSIVE GOLF FAMILIARISATION TRIP TO SHOWCASE MALAYSIA'S PREMIER GOLF COURSES

KUALA LUMPUR, 16 March 2025 – Tourism Malaysia welcomed the China Golf General Managers Familiarisation Trip to Malaysia, taking place from 16 to 25 March 2025. This exclusive initiative, in collaboration with Shanghai Ujoy International Travel Services, aims to strengthen ties between Malaysia’s top golf courses and leading golf club managers from China.

Shanghai Ujoy International Travel Services, a renowned global golf tour operator, is partnering with Liberty Golf Malaysia, to bring together 12 General Managers from some of Shanghai’s most prestigious golf courses. This familiarisation trip provides these golf industry leaders with a firsthand experience of Malaysia’s world-class golfing facilities, warm hospitality, and unique tourism offerings.

During the 10-day itinerary, participants will visit a curated selection of premier golf courses across Peninsular Malaysia, where they will explore the course designs, playability, and facilities. The trip serves as a strategic platform to foster reciprocal agreements between Malaysian and Chinese golf clubs while positioning Malaysia as a top golfing destination in the Asia-Pacific region.

The key objectives and highlights of the trip are introducing top Chinese golf managers to Malaysia’s world-class golf facilities—featuring some of the country’s most iconic courses, promoting reciprocal agreements between Malaysian and Chinese clubs, and showcasing the growing golf tourism potential in Malaysia. It also offers valuable networking opportunities for tourism stakeholders and golf course managers to collaborate and expand cross-border golfing ties.

By fostering strategic partnerships and encouraging reciprocal club agreements, the programme aims to position Malaysia as a leading golfing destination for international golfers, particularly from China. This initiative reinforces Tourism Malaysia’s commitment to promoting high-value niche tourism segments and positioning the country as a top-tier golfing destination in Asia.

Malaysia recorded 3,725,894 Chinese tourist arrivals in 2024, marking an impressive 130.9% year-on-year growth. Looking ahead, Tourism Malaysia is confident in achieving its target of 6 million Chinese visitors in 2025, with a projected goal of 7 million visitors in 2026 in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
